Many people today question the value of church membership given the individualistic nature of our culture. We, however, are convinced that God adopts us as his children through the finished work of Jesus and makes us family. Our relationships with one another, therefore, could not be more important, and our task is to give visible expression to the unity we have already received as a gift of God’s grace.
To that end, Central offers membership seminars so that those who have recently begun attending Central can learn more about who we are and ask questions about our church in order to make a wise and informed decision regarding membership. These seminars are intended to be instructive but informal – perhaps even fun! If there are questions about the Christian faith that you have always wanted to ask but never had the opportunity – here is your chance! You are more than welcome to attend a seminar even if you are not sure you want to proceed with the membership process. This is an opportunity for you to meet the leaders of the church and find answers to your questions.
As a Presbyterian church, the leaders of the church must subscribe to the distinctive facets of Presbyterian theology and government, but that is not required of all church members. While we hope that everyone will grow to appreciate our particular Presbyterian tradition, it is not necessary to “become a Presbyterian” to join our church. All Christians who profess faith in Jesus as their Savior and accept his Lordship in all of life are invited to pursue membership.
